Carers Victoria is the peak body for unpaid carers in Victoria. Our purpose is to advance understanding of Victoria’s unpaid carers and improve their access to assistance. Our teams provide services and advice for carers living in Victoria including education workshops, programs, and events across the state.

The Position

The Regional Carer Support Advisor will organise and deliver a new suite of local group programs of activities to connect and support unpaid carers in specific regional communities.

This is one of three new roles that Carers Victoria is establishing in regional Victoria, so we are looking for someone with strong organisational skills, the ability to work with carers from diverse backgrounds to effectively support their engagement in local respite activities and the ability to build and sustain strong relationships with local providers and potential referrers will be pivotal.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Organising, promoting, coordinating, and facilitating various kinds of local, group-based carer respite activities for unpaid carers in target catchment/s.
  • Developing local referral and support networks to build effective partnerships that benefit carers, maximise impact of new Carers Victoria programs in those catchments and support overall integration of local supports.
  • Effective assessment of carer support needs utilising established tools - primarily via phone-based assessments - including risk and safety assessments, linkage to local support services and associated management of identified in-scope carer needs. This will include responding to calls via the Carers Victoria Statewide Advisory Service.
  • Gathering data and reporting on activities, including both output and outcome measures, using established tools and frameworks.

The Offer

  • This role will be heavily based in Latrobe Valley, with the successful candidate delivering face to face group programs, attending meetings with local stakeholders and participating in other face to face activities across the catchment.
  • Phone and desk-based elements of the role can be completed from home and/or an agreed local location. Carers Victoria will supply the necessary IT to support that arrangement. There might be some opportunities to work remotely to connect and contribute to the greater team.
  • Part-time position at 0.4 FTE, with some flexibility to negotiate hours and days of work.
  • $86,000 gross pro rata salary + super + not-for-profit salary packaging available.
