ABOUT BUBUP WILAM ABORIGINAL CHILD AND FAMILY CENTRE

Bubup Wilam Aboriginal Child and Family Centre is an Aboriginal Community controlled Early Years service catering for children aged 6 months to six years of age including 3- and 4-year-old kindergarten. Bubup Wilam began operation in 2012 and has grown from strength to strength. We have developed our own Aboriginal Curriculum Framework which works alongside the VEYLDF and we are currently documenting the Bubup Wilam Approach to Aboriginal Early Years.

Bubup Wilam were recognised for the innovation of the model in 2023 winning the national NAIDOC award for education and receiving an excellent rating by ACECQA, we also gained registration as our own Registered Training Organisation (RTO). We deliver training in the Certificate III and Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care onsite for our employees with a strong commitment to building the workforce capability of Aboriginal people.

A commitment to supporting the workforce development and succession planning of our Aboriginal workforce is therefore essential. We have a strong health and wellbeing focus and work closely with our onsite health and wellbeing team to provide an embedded and seamless approach to education, health, and wellbeing.

We also have an all-day indoor/outdoor program and provide a weekly Connection to Country program in local bushlands – the applicant therefore must have a passion for connecting children to the outdoors. We also encourage our children to experience a wide range of excursions.
