The Workforce and Training Officer (Aged Care) (WTOAC) directly reports to the Workforce and Training Coordinator (Aged Care) (50D) and is accountable to the Workforce Development Manager. This position is the primary point of contact for the Elder Care Support program, ensuring that non accredited training and support for workforce is organised, sequenced and delivered to enable local workforce is able to support older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The WTOAC will work closely with the Workforce and Training Coordinator (Aged Care) (50D) and alongside the Home Care Workforce Support Officer to coordinate and organise workforce engagement activities, assist jurisdictional communication materials that align with the NACCHO communications framework, including Yarning Circles.

About You

As an ideal candidate, you will have demonstrated experience in delivering and/or facilitating training, and a qualification in community services is preferred.

In addition:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of person-centred care, trauma-informed practice.
  • Ability to take direction, determine priorities and manage workloads in order to meet agreed timelines and objectives.
  • Ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and their leaders, respecting traditional culture, values and ways of doing business.
  • Sound understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the aged care system.
  • Knowledge of the health, social and emotional wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The position involves working within a multicultural organisation where the majority of workplace participants, clients and stakeholders identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Please note: In addition to the above skills and experience, the successful candidate will require an unrestricted WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence, and be required to submit a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months) prior to appointment.
