About Us

Women's Legal Service Victoria (WLSV) is a highly respected not for profit organisation that has been providing free legal services to women since 1982. We work with and for women experiencing disadvantage to address legal issues arising from relationship breakdown and violence against women.

About the Role

Joining our legal and policy team, you will work collaboratively to address systemic issues in law and policy, including through strategic casework. You will also provide high-quality legal advice, duty lawyer assistance and representation in complex family law matters, both parenting and property. 

About You

You are a driven, motivated self-starter who has the ability to work autonomously to deliver results that exceed the client's expectations. You have high attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with people quickly.

Key to your success is your:

  • Strong understanding of family law and intersecting jurisdictions 
  • Confidence in appearance work
  • Good organisational and time management skills, and the ability to manage changing priorities
  • Understanding of the gendered nature and impact of family violence  

This is a full-time or part time, fixed-term position, for an initial period of 2 years, with the possibility of extension.  

Qualifications and Experience

You will have:

  • A Bachelor of Laws Degree and be either admitted or eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in Victoria
  • A minimum of two years post admission experience in family law, in particular in litigation
