The Welfare Rights Centre

The Welfare Rights Centre is a community legal centre specialising in social security law and its administration by Centrelink. We provide free legal information, advice and representation in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and have been advocating for disadvantaged clients in our community since 1983.

The Role

The Welfare Rights Centre is looking for a full-time Solicitor/Caseworker for an 18 month contract.

Your role will be to contribute to the casework practice of the Welfare Rights Centre, through the provision of information, advice and individual casework involving advocacy directly to Centrelink and to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

This is a great opportunity to join a team of committed advocates, and contribute to litigating in the public interest to enforce the rights of socially and economically disadvantaged people to income support.

Full training will be provided to the right candidate.

Eligibility to hold a Practicing Certificate in NSW is desirable but not essential if you have tertiary qualifications and experience working at Centrelink or advising and undertaking casework in social security matters.

You will be supervised by the Coordinator/Principal Solicitor and Senior Solicitors at the Centre. Please contact Carolyn Odgers on (02) 9211 5389 if you have any questions.
