Mental Illness Fellowship Victoria works with people with mental illness, their families and friends to improve their well being.  We employ over 250 staff who work across sites within Victoria and ACT on a range of innovative education, support, advocacy and rehabilitation programs.

The Program Worker will work within the psychosocial model to support our participants to develop on-going recovery plans encompassing social and well-being opportunities.  Working within the context of the individual, families and community, the role will include supporting participants with daily living skills, community linkages, social skill development and facilitating individuals to live in shared environment.

The Opening Doors program is a residential rehabilitation program with primarily focus on recovery and integration back into the community. It is set in a 24 hour residential environment that facilitates the development of skills for independent living as part of an individual’s recovery journey.  Participants in the Opening Doors program have clinical case management provided by the Area Mental Health Team.

We are looking for individuals that have a natural empathy, are motivated, and can support participants at different stages of their recovery journey.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Qualifications in social science or similar discipline or relevant experience
  • Experience working in residential respite or mental health is highly desirable
  • Recovery and person-centred philosophy
  • Comfortable working independently as well as an active team member
  • An understanding and demonstrated commitment to social inclusion and diversity.
