A rare opportunity has arisen to assume the role of Chief Executive Officer at world leading health promotion organisation, the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation, best known as VicHealth. An independent statutory authority with a thirty-year history of multipartisan support, VicHealth promotes a comprehensive inclusive approach to good health and preventing chronic disease.

VicHealth works with all levels of government, across political boundaries with a broad array of communities and a range of sectors - health, sports, the arts, research, education and the media. The organisation contributes to public policy and strategy and conducts vital research to advance the health and wellbeing of Victoria’s population. It also implements innovative health promotion programs and campaigns which support behaviour change as well as help to transform environments where people, work, live and play.

Accountable to the Board, the CEO leads all aspects of this vibrant and successful organisation. The key deliverables for the CEO relate to strategy, relationships and innovation.

Candidates wanting to be considered for the position would need attributes including:

  • Extensive senior level experience in fields relevant to health promotion and disease prevention with a sophisticated understanding of the social determinants of health
  • A reputation as a high-level influencer, able to provide efficient and effective liaison; build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders and represent VicHealth in a professional manner
  • A track record in public policy and advocacy
  • Ability to inspire others with substantial experience in effective people and financial management
  • A high level of professionalism, self-awareness, integrity, maturity, and political nous.
