Inner South-West Community Development Organisation, the regional forum & community sector peak body for the Inner South-West region of Sydney is seeking 2 skilled and dynamic community development workers to resource and support community engagement and capacity building activities in the diverse and interesting Inner South-West region of Sydney. The region incorporates the local government areas of Canterbury, Marrickville, Rockdale, Kogarah, Hurstville and Sutherland.
Applicants will need to have recent experience working in the community services field and a sound knowledge and understanding of core community development principles and practices.
Both positions require knowledge and understanding of Strengths Based approach to community work and skills and experience in engaging respectfully and effectively with disadvantaged and socially marginalised community groups to achieve tangible outcomes.
Applicants will need to have a sound understanding and demonstrated commitment to the principles & practices related to social justice, social inclusion and sustainability.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential to this key community development roles including the ability to plan, formulate, deliver and document community engagement processes and activities and disseminate and share information related to these activities.
Both positions are part-time - 21 hours/3 days per week; one will focus on community development activities in the Inner-West and St George region and the other position, a 3 year contracted position will focus on Community Capacity Building activities in the Sutherland local government area of Sydney.
Salary & conditions are as per the NSW SACS Award transitioning to the Federal Social Community Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHADS) Award Grade 4, level commensurate with experience.
