Resourcing, health and education is seeking an enthusiastic Peer Community Educator, who’s values are closely aligned with the intentions of the RhED, to challenge stigma and discrimination encountered by sex industry workers. Aimed at addressing barriers and oppressive forces that limit safety for workers in the adult services industry, the peer community educator role will assist in building stronger networks of support through targeted community education. RhED is working to create a stronger peer workforce, including more roles, in recognition of the value of peer work initiatives. Peer workers offer additional ‘lived’ experience that complements and enriches the existing workforce within the RhED program.

To be suitable for the role you will possess the following: 

  • Lived experience of working within the adult services or sex industry, either current or historical.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop resources, information, education and awareness programs.
  • A commitment to the elimination of discrimination against sex workers through advocacy and education.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Individuals with a demonstrated work history in a similar role without qualification will be considered and are encouraged to apply.
  • Certificate in Community Services, L&D, Training and Assessment, Health Promotion (are desirable but non-essential).
