The Inner South Community Health Service Ltd. (ISCHS) is a multi-sited community health agency providing a comprehensive range of health and welfare services to the communities of Prahran, St Kilda, South Melbourne and Port Melbourne. Approximately 270 staff work in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver programs and services across four key service locations: SouthPort (in Coventry Street, South Melbourne); Inkerman Street, St Kilda; Mitford Street, St Kilda and Malvern Road, Prahran. In addition other staff are located in and provide services in public housing high-rise estates.
Position Objective
The Pathways to Exit project will provide support and assistance to Victorian sex workers who wish to address barriers that prevent access to alternative employment. A significant aspect of the project is to develop a clear understanding of the demand for, service gaps and issues surrounding provision of this kind of support.
Key Selection Criteria
Mandatory
- A current Victorian Driver’s Licence
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work or similar
- 2 years relevant work experience
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of case work and case management, particularly with marginalized people with complex needs
- Demonstrated experience in working with clients in vocational transisiton
- Knowledge of the principles of prevention and harm minimisation as these relate to alcohol and drug use and public health
- Demonstrated understanding of service system relevant to the target group
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work effectively under limited supervision and as part of an outreach team
- A non-judgmental and non-discriminatory attitude
- Commitment to principles of human rights and social justice
Desirable
- Proficiency in a community language
- A broad knowledge of and understanding of the sex industry
- Demonstrated ability in the review and evaluation of programs
- Computer skills (in particular, word processing skills)
