Member Advocate

Employer: Future Super
Work Type/s: Full Time, Part Time
Classification/s: Business Development & Sales, Environment & Sustainability, Green Energy
Sector/s: Business/Private Sector, Social Enterprise
Location: Sydney

Job posted on: 31 October, 2018.
Applications close: 14 November, 2018. (Expired)

We want to help Australians use their savings to create a brighter, renewable energy powered future. To do this, we created an ethical and fossil-free superannuation fund. So, instead of investing in climate polluters and other harmful industries (like tobacco, gambling, detention centres and live animal export, to name just a few), we invest in new solar farms, clean tech start-ups and other exceptional companies whose activities are making the world a better place.

As a Future Super Member Advocate you’ll get to use your communication and people skills to have an impact on important environmental and social justice issues, and to shape the future of Australia's economy for good.

Responsibilities

Future Super is growing quickly, and we're looking for a talented, hardworking person to join our Member Advocacy team.

You’ll have responsibility for delivering a positive, professional and (above all) human experience to our members each time they contact us – whether by phone, email or other channels. You will also talk to our members in person at conferences and other events (for example, the recent Bill McKibben tour that we supported, or the Sustainable Living Festival in Melbourne). In this role you’ll get your hands dirty and get stuff done! We’re in high growth start-up mode, so everyone at Future Super is digging in to make things happen.

Your day-to-day

As part of our Member Advocacy team, you will demonstrate our values in all of your interactions with our team and our members. You will:

  • Communicate with our members by phone, email and other channels, preparing tailored written communication for members and answering their questions - from the basic to the most complex;
  • Work with our Investment and Marketing teams to understand our approach to ethical screening and investments, and to help communicate this to members and potential members;
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in our industry, ensuring that our members are always provided with the most accurate information (don't worry, our compliance team is here to help!); and
  • Be a strong voice for our Future Super members, working with us to continually improve our offering and member-facing resources, and by bringing the voice of our members to discussions about our products, fees, services, and investment decisions.

You will add to our culture. Our culture and values are really important:

  • At Future Super: We think big; We make a meaningful impact; We strive for simplicity; We get the job done.
  • Our team works towards these values by ensuring that: We act with humility; We support and empower each other; We keep our members at the heart of what we do; We always ensure we are worthy of our members’ trust.

What we're looking for

  • You are passionate about helping people and the planet, and using finance to make it happen. You may not have direct experience in ethical investment and superannuation (yet), but you’re informed and excited about the potential to use these levers to drive impact;
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the interpersonal skills to match;
  • You enjoy problem solving and learning on the go, and are able to keep up with new information as it changes (for example, the latest returns info, or our latest investments);
  • You are highly organised with strong attention to detail, and are good at juggling different pieces of work at one time;
  • You enjoy a good discussion about climate change and ethics, and are comfortable reasoning and discussing your ideas with others.

A full position description is attached below.

If some or all of these sound like you then send us an application!

The terms

  • Hours: The role is full-time, but we are open to considering flexible arrangements for the right person
  • Location: Sydney CBD
  • Salary: $58k FTE plus superannuation
  • Generous staff benefits, including 14 weeks’ parental leave for all genders and a generous parental superannuation package, formal training and continuous improvement opportunities, healthy office snacks and membership to Bicycle NSW as part of our active and sustainable transport policy.

Future Super is an equal opportunity employer – we provide flexible working hours, the option to work from home and a laptop you can use to work remotely. We strongly encourage people of culturally diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, to apply.
