It’s not often that a role with a fast-growing, established and disruptive ethical organisation comes along - here is an opportunity to shape the future of Australia’s economy for good.

As a Member Advocate you’ll get to use your communication and people skills to truly have an impact on important environmental and social justice issues.

Join the team at Future Super, where we do financial services with a difference. Our purpose is to help Australians to use their savings to create a fairer, brighter, renewable energy powered future. In the last 3 years we have helped thousands of Australians divest over $500 million dollars out of super funds exposed to fossil fuels, cruel animal practices and the mandatory detention of refugees. At the same time, we're investing millions in new solar farms, clean tech start-ups and other exciting investments that make the world better.

The Role

Future Super is growing quickly, and we're looking for a talented, hardworking person to join our Member Advocacy team.

You’ll have responsibility for delivering a positive, professional and (above all) human experience to our members each time they contact us – whether by phone, email or other channels. You will also talk to our members in person at conferences and other events (for example, the recent Bill McKibben tour that we supported, or Sustainable Living Festival in Melbourne). In this role you’ll get your hands dirty and get stuff done! We’re in high growth start-up mode, so everyone at Future Super is digging in make things happen.

Your day to day

You’ll be part of our Member Advocacy team applying and contributing to our values in all of your interactions with our team and our members.

  • You will communicate with our members by phone, email and other channels, and will prepare, review and distribute tailored written communications to members, answering questions from basic to complex enquiries.
  • You’ll work with our Investment and Marketing teams to help communicate our approach to ethical screening and our investment decisions with members and potential members.
  • You'll keep up-to-date with changes in our industry, ensuring that our members are always provided with the most accurate information (don't worry, our compliance team is here to help!)
  • You’ll be a strong voice for our members within Future Super, working with us to continually improve our offering and member-facing resources, and by bringing the voice of our members to discussions about our products, fees, services, and investment decisions.

What we're looking for

  • You are passionate about helping people and the planet and for using finance to make it happen. You may not have direct experience in ethical investment and superannuation (yet), but you’re informed and excited about the potential to use these levers to drive impact;
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the interpersonal skills to match;
  • You enjoy problem solving and learning on the go, and are able to keep up with new information as it changes (for example, the latest returns info, or our latest investments);
  • You are highly organised with strong attention to detail, and are good at juggling different pieces of work at one time;
  • You enjoy a good discussion about climate change and ethics, and are comfortable reasoning and discussing your ideas with others;
  • You will add to our culture. Our culture and values are really important:
    • At Future Super: We think big; We make a meaningful impact; We strive for simplicity; We get the job done.
    • Our team works towards these values by ensuring that: We act with humility; We support and empower each other; We keep our members at the heart of what we do; We always ensure we are worthy of our members’ trust.

If some or all of these sound like you then send us an application!

The terms

  • Hours: the role is full-time, but we are open to considering flexible arrangements for the right person.
  • Location: Sydney (CBD).
  • Salary: $60k FTE (negotiable) plus superannuation
  • Generous staff conditions, including 14 weeks parental leave for all genders and generous parental superannuation package, formal training and continuous improvement, healthy office snacks and membership to Bicycle NSW as part of our active and sustainable transport policy.

Future Super is an equal opportunity employer - we provide flexible working hours, the option to work from home and a laptop you can use at home. We strongly encourage people of culturally diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, to apply.
