Position Objective

Dandenong Neighbourhood House is a not-for-profit leader and innovator in the City of Greater Dandenong, providing community services, that include pre-accredited training, which assists in developing pathways for further education and training, with the aim of leading to employment.  Our services also include support, social groups, community education programs, venue hire, a Community Shed and a Community Garden.

The position of Business Development Manager reports to the DNH Board of Governance. The position is responsible for developing new business and maintaining current business for the whole of the organisation.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Develop a growth strategy exercising sound business judgement, identify, investigate, analyse and develop opportunities, including innovative solutions that DNH can deliver in line with its strategic Vision
  • Promote and communicate new product/project developments to prospective clients and all internal stakeholders
  • Research, develop and prepare presentations, business cases, grant submissions and funding proposals, including all aspects of feasibility, due diligence and stakeholder detail.
  • Obtain board approval
  • Prepare timely, accurate & professional reports and acquittals
  • Provide trustworthy feedback to operations and the Board and regularly present to Board, performance reports.
  • Promote and communicate new product/project developments to prospective clients and all internal stakeholders
  • Maintain excellent relations with all stakeholders including Government funders/financiers, contractors and regulators
  • Responsible for leading and developing the branding and positioning of DNH through all mediums required.

Governance

  • Identify and manage financial risk including escalating high risks to the Board of Governance
  • Manage reporting and administrative requirements to meet identified deadlines in the development and review of the House’s strategic and business plans, annual reports and budget

Marketing

  • Negotiates and builds successful formal and informal partnerships to achieve strategic objectives and improve client outcomes
  • Creates and maintains professional networks to promote, maintain currency and be relevant
  • Advance organisational objectives and champions key directions and projects
  • Attends and actively contributes to relevant sector-related meetings

  • Manage time effectively and prioritise activities to achieve strategic outcomes.

Other Requirements

Qualifications 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, i.e. Community Development,  Business Development,  or similar  related experience in the Community Services Sector. Solid understanding of financial reporting and budgeting.

Experience

  • 8 years’+ relevant experience preferred
  • A solid understanding of financial reporting and writing a business case.

Other

  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • A satisfactory National Police Check and Working with Children Check are required prior to the commencement of employment.
