The Role

This is your chance to make an impact contributing to climate change action. This role provides an opportunity to develop and execute innovative digital campaigns to engage and grow the Climate Council’s online audience. Working with a team of communications professionals you will always have your finger on the pulse, producing cut-through digital content including social media content, videos and web content, whilst contributing to high impact multi-team projects.

This role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop an innovative online content strategy
  • Content creation across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and our websites.
  • Provide reactive capacity across all digital platforms.
  • Review the daily media cycle and create cut-through digital content in response.
  • Review social listening tools daily to pick up and capitalise on online trends.
  • Works closely with the communications and research team to create and edit written content, images and video that are on message.
  • Drive the integration of social media and media content.
  • Provide audience insights to the team by using social media platform analytics and performance tools
  • Create graphics and videos using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Video production including concept development, script-writing, asset sourcing, talent sourcing, shoot management, edit supervision.
  • Basic photography and video skills are desirable for filming media launches and eventsCopywriting for video scripts, web articles and acquisition.
  • Publish our world-leading reports and other online content across our suite of websites.
  • Manage our content calendar, from daily social media posting to major project launches. Editorial responsibility for content mix, in line with organisational strategy.
  • Develop distribution partnerships and share our content with relevant organisations, publishers and stakeholders.
  • Promote content and campaigns through channels such as Facebook advertising.
  • Work closely with fundraising team to generate ideas and implement campaigns.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of our digital communications, report back on successes and learnings.

Key Selection Criteria

1. You know your craft.

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a digital content production or digital marketing/ communications role.
  • A strong portfolio of creative, strategic digital content.
  • Hands-on experience managing social media pages across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and creating video content.
  • Current knowledge of new tech developments, internet trends and pop culture.
  • Strong working knowledge of digital platforms and software – e.g.Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google Analytics, website content management /CMS, fundraising systems.
  • Experience running integrated digital campaigns across multiple platforms.
  • Experience managing website development projects.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative suite - photoshop proficiency essential

  • Strong visual thinker with the ability to conceptualise engaging videos, graphics and web content.
  • Talented writer with the ability to craft punchy copy for a range of audiences and platforms.
