The Community Services Program provides counselling and intake and assessment services within Windana. Community Services aims to provide a range of options and support appropriate to the needs of clients who have alcohol and drug use problems. Services provided may include assessment, treatment and consultancy, referral and ongoing case management.

This Intake and Assessment / Counsellor position provides counselling, consultancy and continuing care to Windana clients including court diversionary clients.

The successful applicant will have experience in working with clients with complex issues including drug and alcohol related issues; a capacity to implement case management strategies and the ability to use a variety of counselling modalities as required.

This position is 0.8 EFT for 1 year and may be extended beyond this. It is paid under the Social and Community Services Award – Classification 2. Generous salary packaging is available. For more detailed information, please refer to the Position Description available below.

The successful candidate will have the following key competencies:

Experience in the AOD field.

  • Relevant academic qualifications in health or social sciences, or be working towards appropriate qualifications. (The minimum academic qualification for this position is the Certificate IV in Community Services (Alcohol & Other Drugs).
  • Excellent case management skills with a high capacity to engage with the clients
  • Excellent client interpersonal skills and communication
  • Experience in working with people with mental health issues
  • Ability to facilitate educational groups with clients
  • Demonstrate participation in skills based education.
  • The capacity to work as a committed team member.
  • The skill and initiative to contribute to the development of an expanding program.
  • A proven capacity to work with a variety of community agencies and develop effective working relationships.
