Australian Progress is seeking a driven individual to lead marketing and recruitment for Progress 2017, Australia’s premier social change conference, to be held for a third time at Melbourne Town Hall in June.

Progress convenes leaders to discuss the big issues facing our future, and build bold new collaborations to tackle them.

You will be responsible for the event’s success by ensuring all of the right people from across civil society attend these game-changing two days.

You will be responsible for executing strategies aimed at recruiting, and building community around, 1200+ social change leaders including:

  • Identifying and tracking prospects, based on previous attendance/our database
  • Making direct contact, by phone, email, and social media with potential prospects
  • Providing technical and other support for registration
  • Creating daily social media promotional content
  • Developing special offers and promotional partnerships including with partner organisations and conference speakers.
  • Managing online advertising, including targeted Facebook and other advertising.
  • Writing, designing, targeting and sending marketing email
  • Participant communications in the lead-up to the event
  • Recruiting and managing a team of volunteers to assist with the above
  • Weekly reporting against targets and sales experiments, and lessons learnt

Who you are

  • Strong detail orientation and love of systems
  • Strong communications abilities, including a great phone manner & email communications
  • Strong literacy in manipulating and analysing data e.g. use of customer relationship management systems, use of Excel/spreadsheets etc.
  • Experience in sales/participant recruitment - e.g outbound sales call centres, event recruitment, especially in field or union organising, is highly regarded
  • May have experience working or volunteering with a social change organisation, such as organising youth conferences, grassroots political campaigning, or union organising.

Role details

  • Sydney base preferred, possible to be based in Melbourne
  • This is an entry level role, may suit a new graduate
  • Full-time (option for 4 days a week, potentially can align around part-time study)
  • $53,000–$60,000 inclusive of super (pro rata)
  • Fixed term contract (January 16 - June 23, 2017).
  • This role is part of a team working on Progress 2017, including both staff at Australian Progress and our event production partner, Wildwon Projects.
    • Executive Director and Deputy Director (AP) - overall responsibility for event, content, sponsorship
    • Event Content and Impact Manager (AP) - responsible for agenda, speakers, side-events and impact partnerships
    • Event Producer(s) (WW) - venue management, overall logistics, participant experience, volunteer management, risk management, brand, theming & other collateral production
    • Stage Manager (WW) - coordination of event on the day, including AV
