As of February 2016, Barnardos is the Lead Agency in the ACT Together Consortium, combining and coordinating the OOHC Program resources of the five agencies in the ACT on behalf of the Territory Government in the care of some 750 children and young people: Barnardos Australia, OzChild, Australian Childhood Foundation, Premier Youthworks and Relationships Australia. ACT Together brings together all of the service elements designed to support children and young people who cannot live with their birth families.
Reporting to the ACT Together Regional Manager, the Carer Recruitment & Assessment Officer will be responsible for recruiting carers for the specialised program. As a Recruitment and Support Officer you will conduct assessments, provide supervision and ongoing training for foster carers as well as other practical support.
The ideal candidate will have a qualification in Social Work, Social Welfare or related area, previous experience working with children and families, demonstrated assessment skills, excellent communication skills both written and verbal, a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, other agencies and Government authorities.
Our desired candidate would have previous experience conducting foster care assessments, an understanding of Child Protection and Out of Home Care and or experience in working with children and families from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and/or an Indigenous backgrounds.
Salary; $68,938 - $85,855 (Salary packaging available)
