YFS offers a range of services including a community legal service, family support, DV programs, financial counselling, employment preparation and housing case management.   • $77,078 - $84,788 (full time) (plus superannuation and salary sacrifice option available)
  • 30 – 38 hours per week
  • There is scope to negotiate part time or full time hours and for the working hours to include the Wednesday night Legal Clinic

YFS is seeking an experienced solicitor, with at least 3 years post admission experience in civil law to join the YFS Legal team. The Legal Service is an integral part of YFS providing the following services;

  • free legal advice, information, referrals to residents of Logan and surrounding suburbs;
  • representation to young people in the criminal justice system;
  • community education to schools and community groups.

We are looking for an applicant that is resilient, robust and enthusiastic about providing quality legal services to people who are financially disadvantaged in Logan City.

Specific duties include:

  • Providing advice, legal tasks, information and referrals in civil law, such as minor disputes, tenancy, and employment etc. It is desirable that the candidate has experience in other areas of law, such as family and criminal law
  • Supervising and leading the after hours clinic on a Wednesday night, which includes recruiting new volunteer solicitors
  • Leading our legal community education programme
  • Working with pro-bono partners and establishing new relationships

Applicants are required to have an unsupervised practising certificate from either the Queensland Law Society or the Bar Association of Queensland. A current Queensland C Class driver’s licence is required. The successful applicant must have (or the ability to obtain) a Positive Blue Card Notice and Disability Services Yellow Card Exemption Notice.
