About the Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic)

The Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic) is the peak body and leading policy advocate on young people’s issues in Victoria. YACVic’s vision is that young Victorians have their rights upheld and are valued as active participants in their communities. YACVic is an independent, not-for-profit, member-driven organisation that represents young people (aged 12–25 years) and the sector that works with them.

About the role

The Policy Manager is responsible for developing YACVic’s policy, responses to government, undertaking relevant research and identifying emerging advocacy issues. The Policy Manager will often represent YACVic at high level meetings focused on policy which may require some travel where necessary.

About the candidate

We are looking for someone who is flexible, motivated and willing to play an active part in a collaborative and close-knit team.

To be eligible to apply for this position you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Write policy content for websites and bulletins (where appropriate)
  • The ability to facilitate consultations
  • Worked closely with stakeholders
  • Provided advocacy to government
  • Representing external committees
