Our Family Centred Employment Project Team (FCEP) currently has 12 month Maternity Leave contract available in the role Family Consultant. The Family Consultant will work to support the employment, education, training and social participation of families in the Broadmeadows community. Our success will be measured by increasing the capability of at least one family member within the context of the family and community.

In collaboration with the participating families, you will be required to contribute to the development of a Family Care Plan that addresses the issues acting as barriers to gaining employment and accurately reflects the families’ goals and aspirations.

The Family Consultant will also be required to provide assistance and training in independent living skills as well as referring them to suitable pre-employment programs and other available services that will help them in preparation for employment.

Duties will include:

  • Providing intense assistance to families with multiple and complex needs
  • Motivating and coaching family members
  • Matching peoples skills and experience to suitable job roles
  • Referring clients to available training opportunities

The ideal candidate will have:

  • The drive to achieve negotiable targets and skill-share in a positive team environment, ideally with experience in JSA or Job Network
  • Excellent communication skills with a passion to learn
  • An understanding of CALD job seekers, with Nepalese language skills an advantage
  • Conflict resolution and problem solving skills
  • A basic understanding of counselling techniques
  • The ability to work with a broad range of cultures and ages
