About the Opportunity

The Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Team provides commissioned services across the full stepped care spectrum from low intensity services, psychological support services and services for those with severe and complex mental health issues and at risk of suicide across the Blue Mountains, Lithgow, Hawkesbury and Penrith local government areas. In addition specific alcohol and other drug services and Aboriginal specific services for people with a dual diagnosis of mental illness and alcohol and other drug misuse are provided.

The Program Support Officer will collaboratively work with key internal staff to provide administrative support to the Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Team in the development and coordination of commissioned services, management of governance bodies, mental health reform, regional planning and other activities as directed. 

Some of the main responsibilities include:

  • Support with project development, coordination and implementation of mental health, alcohol and other drugs initiatives as directed. 

  • Provide high-level administrative support and assistance.
  • Support with the management of relationships with stakeholders – both internal and external. 

  • Assist with the coordination and preparation for project events / meetings. 

  • Preparation of agendas, meeting documents and minute taking at meetings. 

  • Assist in the delivery of project communication and resources. 

  • Assist with the preparation of project reports and briefs internally and the management of reporting, invoicing and documentation for commissioned providers. 

  • Maintain internal records.  

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in an administration role that involved a high level of efficiency, attention to detail and ability to prioritise competing workloads.
  • Intermediate skill level on MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe. 

  • Demonstrated level of proficiency with communication skills, both written and oral (including a professional, courteous, and friendly telephone manner).
  • Ability to liaise with people at all levels, to work cooperatively with other staff and contribute to a positive, supportive work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within organisational and program policies and procedures. 

Desirable Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in minute taking.
  • Understanding of and/or recent experience working with primary health care in the Australian context.
  • Awareness of the issues involved with mental illness or alcohol and other drug misuse.

This position is a one year contract. Funding may be extended past this date however this cannot be guaranteed and future employment is subject to ongoing funding.
