About the program

Youth Hope is an exciting new and innovative program being rolled out to support Young People aged 9-15 and their families through the Penrith and Blacktown areas. Youth Hope works with children and young people who have been assessed as being at Risk of Significant Harm. The Education Facilitator will be key in being on the frontline of service delivery and assisting to create positive life outcomes in the lives of young people.

Essential criteria

  • Tertiary qualification(s) in Education, Social Work or related fields
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with cyp and families where there are issues for the cyp safety, welfare and wellbeing, including but not limited to domestic and family violence; child protection issues; drug and alcohol misuse; parenting skills; cyp behaviour management; learning difficulties; mental health and social isolation
  • Experience in conducting educational assessments and implementing education plans
  • Experience in developing and facilitating education focussed group work or one-to-one programs for children, young people and parents
  • Demonstrated ability to engage families, build relationships of trust and cooperation, problem solve and resolve conflict
  • Demonstrated capacity to liaise and work collaboratively with service providers, networks, government, community and young people including education providers to re-engage cyp into school/education
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills
  • Working knowledge of and commitment to wraparound model of service provision, 10 practice principals of family work (FAMS), evidence based practice child/youth focused practice
  • Ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander (ATSI) and culturally and linguistically diverse (cald) organisations and community
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and occasional Saturdays

    Desirable criteria

    • Working knowledge of the youth and family support sector in the Penrith and Blacktown local government area
    • Trauma informed practice
    • Experience in managing electronic files and data bases 


    The salary range for this position is based on the SCHADS award, level 6. Salary will include a vehicle and salary packaging benefit. Superannuation is paid in addition at 9.25%.
