    About the position 

    The Employment and Discrimination Solicitor is a specialist role within the Centre. You will be responsible for providing women with advice and representation on employment and discrimination matters. As the only women practicing in this area, you will work under limited direction and provides expert advice to inform the planning and strategic direction of this area of practice, including opportunities for development and innovation.

    You will also be responsible for the Centre’s Domestic Violence and Work Project, which provides training on workplaces responses to domestic and family violence for employer.

    You will also assist in the development and coordination of programs with our pro bono partners and contribute to law reform projects undertaken by the Centre.

    Applicants must be eligible for a restricted practising certificate in the Australian Capital Territory.

    Note: being a woman is a genuine occupational qualification under s34 of the Discrimination Act 1991 (ACT).  Part-time applications will be considered.

    About the Centre

    The Women's Legal Centre is a small, innovative community legal centre providing specialist legal services to vulnerable women in Canberra and the surrounding region.  Our main areas of practice are family law, domestic violence, victims of crime, employment and discrimination.  We also provide case management support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.
