About us

The Legal and Dispute Resolution Branch oversees the Commission's intervention and investigation functions and provides legal advice, undertakes legal research and contributes to the development of resources to facilitate compliance with Victoria's key human rights laws. The branch also provides a best practice dispute resolution service, resolving complaints of discrimination, sexual harassment, vilification and victimisation.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced lawyer with management experience to head up our Legal and Dispute Resolution Branch. The Head of Legal and Dispute Resolution is responsible for managing and leading the Branch in providing the Commission's dispute resolution, investigation and intervention functions as well as other legal services. The role also has a Commission-wide focus and will play an integral role in the strategic thinking and planning that enables the Commission to meet its regulatory role and strategic objectives.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Substantial knowledge of, and experience in anti-discrimination and human rights law;
  • Experience in alternative dispute resolution and undertaking investigations, preferably in a regulatory context;
  • Highly developed analytical skills and the ability to write persuasively and with rigour on complex matters;
  • Experience in driving and continuously improving high quality services that meet the needs of stakeholders.
