Your responsibilities

The Deputy provides support to the Country Director by broadly handling a number of management issues and strategically important aspects of the Australia Program.  In this role, the individual directs and manages a significant segment of the Conservancy’s program and assures its capacity to effectively provide program resources.  They may focus their work in one or more areas of the Program, such as External Affairs, Finance & Operations, Marketing & Memberships etc., but they have responsibility beyond that for program management and success. They must cultivate cooperative working partnerships with the Country Director and other staff, Trustee Board, corporations, educational institutions, government and private agencies and other conservation partners.

The Deputy will be accountable for the delivery of TNC Australia’s three pillars of Organisational Effectiveness:

  • Achieving Financial Sustainability: to ensure we get enough resources to our priorities.
  • Creating Best Ways to Work:to ensure our organisational resources are deployed most efficiently and effectively.
  • Advancing Our People Agenda: to create an environment in which talented, diverse and engaged people thrive.

In addition, the Deputy will be accountable for the efficient execution of conservation programs in the Implementation and Scale-Up stages of the Conservation Innovation Pipeline.  They will also work closely with the Director of Conservation to advise on the design and implementation of conservation programs in the R&D stage of the pipeline.
