About the Australia Institute

The Australia Institute is Australia’s leading progressive independent think tank. We conduct original research that contributes to a more just, sustainable and peaceful society. Our research covers a broad range of economic, social, accountability & integrity and environmental issues in order to inform public debate and bring greater accountability to the democratic process.

We are looking for a researcher to assist and conduct research and analysis on wide range of policy and economic issues.

We are looking for a doer, someone who enjoys working with a high-performing team to get results and create impact.

The Successful Applicant will:

  • Produce high-quality research as part of a team
  • Have skills in data analysis, report writing, editing, proofreading and undertaking literature reviews
  • Assist in promoting Australia Institute research, including fact-checking op-eds and other written material, media releases and other research content
  • Review research work produced by staff and critique evidence argument and conclusion
  • Special Projects at the direction of the Executive Director
  • Support fundraising activities

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated tertiary level research skills, or similar relevant experience
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deliver projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Advanced MS Word and Excel skills

The position is full time, on a twelve-month contract, with the possibility for renewal. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
