Since 1968 the Tasmanian Conservation Trust has been protecting Tasmania's wildlife, ecosystems and natural landscapes. Some of our most prominent campaigns have been Stop the Super Trawler, the establishment of the Mt Wellington Reserve and preventing the Tamar Valley Pulp Mill. A position has opened up for a: 

Manager of Marketing and Community Engagement

  • To develop and document the TCT Fundraising Strategy.
  • To deliver effective marketing and fundraising activities that are integrated with the strategic objectives of the organisation and consistent with the fundraising strategy.
  • To co-ordinate with the TCT’s campaign staff and office manager to plan and implement each year’s campaigns and in particular how to maximise the community awareness and involvement in them.
  • To create and maintain social media strategies and day to day activities to support key campaigns and fundraising and marketing needs of the TCT.
  • To engage the TCT membership in the work of the organisation through newsletters (including electronic) personal contact, events and social media.
  • To initiate, build and maintain relationships with existing and potential financial partners, sponsors and donors.
  • To identify sources of grants and assist with the preparation of grant proposals.
  • To recruit volunteers and supervise them for marketing, fundraising and media (including social media) tasks.
  • To develop and promote fundraising programs, membership drives, regular donations and bequests.
  • To establish and maintain an effective marketing/fundraising management system

The Manager, Marketing and Community Engagement will report to the President.

Key Deliverables

  1. Assist in securing the long term, financially viable future for the TCT
  2. Increase in memberships and bequests
  3. Increase in revenue by $30,000 from fundraising activities in the first year and to be reviewed annually
  4. Increase in the public profile of the TCT and Tasmania’s natural values
  5. Increase in community, stakeholder and government engagement
  6. Success of long term fundraising strategy
  7. Any other matter as directed from time to time

Essential Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated success in fundraising.
  2. Social media marketing expertise including with Facebook and Twitter, crowd funding, and websites.
  3. Exceptional communication skills – written, verbal and interpersonal
  4. Passion for and love of Tasmania
  5. Drivers licence

The position is permanent part time at 3 days per week and the salary is in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Level 3, Paypoint 3 ($26.35 per hour).
