The Integrated Support Program (ISP) is a unique support service for Aboriginal people living in Alice Springs who are affected by alcohol. This service puts a strong emphasis on therapeutic relationships with individuals, families, and communities in order to reduce alcohol related harms.

You will work as part of a team of case work and community development workers in providing assertive outreach and harm reduction support to Aboriginal people living in Alice Springs. You will be a team member who can offer flexible and creative support while building trust through anti-oppressive practice.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Outreach to homes and communities providing counselling, safety planning, and psychosocial support for those who are negatively affected by alcohol misuse.
  2. Early intervention, harm reduction, and case planning with individuals and families.
  3. Support and advocacy for clients in accessing primary health care, mental health services, and other relevant support.
  4. Assistance for individuals, families and communities in returning to their home community through Tangentyere’s Return to Country program.
  5. Support for individuals in accessing and sustaining employment and training.
  6. Co-facilitation of group and community based programs.

Essential Criteria:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in community development, social work, social sciences or a related discipline with experience in the provision of services to disadvantaged individuals, families and communities.
  2. Understanding of Counselling, Motivational Interviewing, and Brief Interventions.
  3. Ability to manage complex cases in a cross-cultural context.
  4. Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with statutory bodies, other service providers and stakeholders.
  5. High level interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in a cross cultural environment.
  6. Current drivers licence, ochre card, and willingness to complete a police check.

Remuneration: Level 6 ($80,207) - 37.5 hours per week - The position includes 6 weeks annual leave and salary packaging.
