The Wilderness Society (TWS) is a not for profit conservation organisation whose principal purpose is to protect, promote and restore wilderness and natural processes for the survival and ongoing evolution of life on Earth. We are one of Australia's leading environmental campaigning groups, with a strong values base and drive for success.

The Cairns Campaign Manager position is a senior campaigner role with management responsibilities. The Cairns Centre plays a critical role in TWS’ Cape York campaigns. This position is part of a dedicated, passionate and successful campaign team and is a key driver in achieving successful environmental outcomes on Cape York and other important campaigns.

The primary purposes of the position are to:

  1. Take a leadership role in Far North Queensland (FNQ)/Cape York-based campaigning work as part of TWS’s overarching ‘Caring for Cape York’ Campaign Plan, with a particular focus on Cape York World Heritage
  2. Further develop the profile of TWSQ in Cairns and FNQ including through media, communications, public engagement, lobbying and networking.
  3. Manage and provide support to the Cairns staff and Centre under the auspices of the Cairns Centre Operations Plan

The secondary roles of the position are to undertake activities in support of TWSQ’s Organisational Planning, Personnel and Fundraising processes, and perform functions under other TWS campaigns in FNQ or organizational development work, as required and negotiated;

This position would suit someone with a combined management and campaigning background, looking for new challenges and opportunities for achievement.
