The Salvation Army Australia is seeking to appoint for Schools Development Representative within the Territorial Public Relations Department at our Glen Waverley office. This position operates from both our Glen Waverley and CBD Melbourne offices. The position is responsible for educating youth, predominately secondary school students, regarding Social Justice Issues in Australia and the welfare work of The Salvation Army. This will include assisting with the delivery of our Schools Program in Victoria, by facilitating school presentations and workshops.

The successful applicant will need to have tertiary qualifications in Youth Work, Education, Community Development or equivalent skills gained from relevant experience and are able to work in accordance with The Salvation Army ethos. Specifically, the incumbent must be able to demonstrate:

  • Ability to advocate for and adequately represent the organisation in forums including public speaking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High standard of report writing and proficiency in formal presentation skills
  • Strong knowledge of social justice issues and the welfare work of The Salvation Army
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence, National Police check and Working with Children Check
  • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in engaging with young people.
