Northern Suburbs Community Legal Centre (NSCLC) and the Southern Community Advocacy and Legal Education Service (SCALES) are not for profit community legal centres providing legal advice and information to low income earners who would otherwise not have access to legal services.

NSCLC and SCALES are partners in an innovative pilot project where trained volunteer Peer Educators will have conversations with individuals on issues and signs of elder abuse with the aim to raise the profile and awareness of issues and signs of elder family abuse.

As Project Officer (South), you will be based in Rockingham and will recruit, train and mentor volunteer Peer Educators in this new pilot elder abuse prevention and awareness project. Your duties will include working closely with the project partners and Project Officer (North) in gathering information and statistics of conversations held. It will also be your responsibility to identify relevant organisations and groups, maintain contact records to provide promotional information and material and coordinate requests of presentations to groups.

The project is funded for 2 years and commenced in May 2016. While the project is scheduled to finish in May 2018, there may be an opportunity for a 6 month extension.

The position is part time for 2 days or 15 hours per week.

There are 5 local government areas involved in the pilot. Rockingham and Kwinana in the south and Wanneroo, Stirling and Joondalup in the north.
