RESULTS International (Australia) is a small not for profit that works as part of an international, non-partisan and non-profit network that has been working in Australia for more than 30 years through a combination of staff led and volunteer driven advocacy connecting at local, national and global levels.

Through a focus on a range of poverty related issues, but particularly health, we work with parliamentarians, the media and members of the community to influence political decisions that will bring an end to poverty. This includes things like pushing for an increase to the foreign aid budget and increased pledges to multilateral bodies that work on global health and poverty alleviation.

RESULTS works with individuals and assists them in preparing for their first meeting with their local MP all the way through to engaging in the international arena with institutions like the World Bank and the World Health Organisation.

Our grassroots volunteers are passionate, committed everyday people who receive training, support, and inspiration to become skilled advocates advising decision makers and guiding them towards decisions that improve access to such things as education, health, and economic opportunity for people living in the poorest parts of the world. This role is about maintaining and enhancing their engagement.

About you:

RESULTS is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, leader to coordinate our advocacy campaigns with volunteers.

A strong people person, you will have the ability to engage and support volunteers around Australia and inspire them to take action. The ideal candidate will have experience in community organising, or leading and managing a volunteer program, but we're looking for drive and the ability to motivate people over previous experience. Strong interpersonal skills are a must.

  • Well organised, and able to manage multiple tasks and leverage opportunities as they arise

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, database use and digital tools

What the job involves:

The Grassroots Engagement Coordinator is responsible for organising efforts to recruit, train, support and activate members of the community to be empowered advocates who influence political decisions to bring an end to extreme poverty. As part of the Campaigns Team, the Grassroots Engagement Coordinator oversees the delivery of meaningful volunteer actions that contribute to RESULTS broader advocacy objectives particularly on global health issues, and retain, attract and build the RESULTS volunteer base.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing people including leading, coaching and inspiring volunteers, particularly those in leadership positions around the country
  • Developing and implementing the annual grassroots work plan in line with RESULTS campaign strategy and work plan
  • Coordinating projects including volunteer related events and training workshops
  • Work to engage and retain the existing RESULTS volunteers and ensure that they are supported to undertake tasks that align with RESULTS overall strategic objectives
  • Providing the structure and support to ensure that RESULTS volunteer groups and their events achieve their goals
  • Prepare communications for mobilising engagement via social media and other relevant platforms
  • Coordinating advocacy events and resources for volunteers and keep in regular contact with volunteer leaders around the country
  • Collaborating with international peers on learning and campaign opportunities as well as like minded organisations in the domestic sector
  • Attending and presenting at national and international events as required (travel is involved as part of the role)
  • Developing and working to a detailed budget for volunteer relevant events and activities
