About Ngarrimili

Meaning ‘to dance’ in Wadawurrung, Ngarrimili exists to inspire, accelerate and nurture entrepreneurial excellence amongst Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Ngarrimili acknowledges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have been successful in economic development for over 80,000 years – from trading, agricultural practices, ceremony and many other actions contributing to prosperity.

Ngarrimili is led by Aboriginal people in conjunction with industry and entrepreneurial experts to provide culturally safe, responsive and appropriate spaces to nurture Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander excellence.

Ngarrimili nurtures Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entrepreneurs – both future and current – to achieve excellence by:

  • Inspiring a culture of entrepreneurship amongst Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Enhancing the commercial capabilities and cultural connections of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entrepreneurs, driving impact and growth for these entrepreneurs, as well as Aboriginal economic development, more generally
  • Providing a safe and culturally appropriate space for developing skills and economic outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entrepreneurs. For example, all program facilitators are required to undergo cultural awareness training before working on the project.

Ngarrimili is a DGR1 organisation, registered with the ACNC.

The Position

We are seeking a dynamic and values-driven individual to join our team as Program Manager. This role will be integral to the day-to-day operations of Ngarrimili, working directly with the founders and Board Members of Ngarrimili to deliver the numerous programs that Ngarrimili has been commissioned to deliver by the Victorian Government and other local governments. Currently, these programs are delivered in Geelong, Shepparton, Gippsland and Melbourne, with potential for further expansion.

As an integral member of the Ngarrimili team, the work that you will be doing will include:

  • Program management – Leading the management of the 3 statewide programs supporting aspiring and current Aboriginal entrepreneurs. This will include leading the administration and all logistical matters relating to the programs, including attending and supporting the delivery of all programs (including, developing your skills as a facilitator, if desired)
  • Participant recruitment – Supporting the recruitment of participants to each of Ngarrimili’s programs. This will include identifying potential participants, approaches to engagement and development of marketing material to support recruitment. This will also involve managing Ngarrimili’s social media platforms
  • Grant and commercial opportunity identification and delivery – Leading the identification and writing of grants and commercial opportunities.
  • Business administration – Leading the business administration, including completing reporting to the Victorian Government and supporting Ngarrimili’s bookkeeping function
  • Enabling – Providing assistance to other parts of the business where required, not being afraid to get your hands dirty
