About Court Network

Court Network is a frontline community organisation that supports people to access the court system. Our role is to empower and increase the confidence of court users to manage the requirements of the courts.

Established in 1980, the organisation operates on a state-wide basis providing court-based non-legal support, information and referrals to members of the community in both the criminal and civil courts.

The service is delivered by over 450 highly-trained volunteer Networkers across Victoria and Queensland who provide support on a non-judgemental and confidential basis.

Court Network provides this service through the employment of both paid and unpaid staff, who are located in the Magistrates’, County, Supreme, Children’s, Coroner’s, Family Law courts and VCAT within Victoria. Court Network also operates in Queensland within the Brisbane District, Magistrates’, Supreme Court and QCAT, and in Cairns and Townsville.

Court Network is committed to the promotion of knowledge about the legal system across the broader community, researching the issues affecting court users and influencing policy and law reform.

Job Purpose

The Victorian State Manager will manage and oversee the operations of Court Network programs and projects in Victorian Courts.

Skills & Competencies

  • High level management skills
  • Experienced program manager
  • Knowledge of issues and barriers affecting access to justice
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders
  • The capacity to initiate, review and develop administration systems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload and multi-task
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge & Experience

  • Senior level management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in staff supervision
  • Experience working within the Victorian justice system or other relevant community sector agencies
  • Experience in development and implementation of complex projects
  • Demonstrated experience in writing funding applications and submissions
  • Experience representing an organisation to external bodies
  • Experience negotiating and maintaining funding and service agreements
  • Experience working in the not-for-profit sector
  • Experience working with volunteers (not necessity but an advantage)
  • Computer & Microsoft Office skills

Current Victorian Drivers Licence and satisfactory Police Check are required.
