NACLC is the peak body for around 200 community legal centres (CLCs) across Australia. CLCs are independently operating, not-for-profit, community-based organisations that provide legal and related services to the disadvantaged. NACLC works with the State and Territory Associations of CLCs, to support the centres in their work providing disadvantaged people with access to the justice system.
NACLC also conducts its own projects and campaigns, particularly in the area of human rights and access to justice, and related funding lobbying. NACLC advocates, negotiates and lobbies nationally on behalf of the sector.
The Communications Manager is a new position at NACLC, its duties include developing and implementing communications and media strategies, and writing and editing a range of publications and social media communications to raise awareness and optimise the impact of NACLC’s and the sector’s work
We are seeking someone with a commitment to striving for social justice who has experience and expertise in communications, journalism and/or campaigning.
Sector and stakeholder consultation, liaison and collaboration are key parts of this job. A flexible approach, a commitment to providing excellent client service and an ability to deal cooperatively and pleasantly with a great range of people are essential.
You must also have excellent written communication and editing skills, high-level research and analytical skills, demonstrated experience in writing high quality submissions and reports and working to budget on projects.
Salary will depend on qualifications and experience, but is anticipated to be pro rata of a fulltime salary range of $65,000 - $70,000. Generous benefits apply.
