About this Role

WESTS Parramatta Tenants’ Advice and Advocacy Program (TAAP) provides information, support and advocacy for tenants in the Western and North Western Sydney region, including representation in relevant Tribunals when necessary.

The WESTS Coordinator supervises the Tenants’ Advocate on a day-to-day basis.

This is a Part time position, 4 days a week (Tue - Fri).

Key Responsibilities

The Tenants’ Advocate is responsible for:

  1. Advice and casework assistance to tenants,
  2. Information and referrals to other services,
  3. Community legal education and law reform, and
  4. General Duties

Selection Criteria

  1. Sound knowledge of relevant legislation
  2. Demonstrated understanding of legal and social issues relevant to disadvantaged groups
  3. Ability to work independently and as a cooperative member of the team
  4. Ability to work with stakeholders and the Tenants’ Advice and Advocacy program network
  5. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and computer literacy
  6. Ability to implement responsive and accessible services
  7. Knowledge of and ability to work with interpreter services

Remuneration is based on : 

Social Community Home Care and Disability Services (SCHCADS) Award 2010 Level 5A, Pay Point negotiable ($38.85 per hour - $41.02 per hour).

(plus 9.5% Superannuation).
