The Moreland Energy Foundation Ltd (MEFL) is a not-for-profit organisation, committed to accelerating the energy transition by empowering communities to take action. The future of energy will look radically different to energy today, and so we are working hard to ensure communities play a meaningful part in this transition and no one gets left behind.

We work across Australia, with offices in Melbourne and Sydney, and whilst our work is focused on Australia’s transition we are also recognised as an international leader in the work that we do.

You will make an impact by:

The Gippsland & Latrobe Valley Microgrid project is an opportunity to work on a highly innovative project accelerating Australia’s energy transition. The project is an important part of supporting the future economic prosperity of Gippsland and Latrobe Valley. The project’s ambition is to deliver up to 75 microgrids to the region and help the community to access up to 7.5MW of renewable energy. The microgrid program will deliver cost reductions for participating businesses in addition to other community-based benefits that enhance the regional economy.

As the community engagement lead you will be the interface between the project team and the community. The role centres on the delivery of an engagement program with local businesses, community and other key local groups. There are two parts to this work:

  1. Working in partnership with key local stakeholders to identify and engage local businesses to participate in the project, and
  2. Promoting the project to the wider community.

Through the delivery of the engagement program, you will need to convert prospects into active participants of the project.

Some of your attributes are

  • You are a people person, competent in communicating clearly with industry, government and community alike.
  • You are a collaborative worker, capable of co-creating and delivering activities with project partners and the community.
  • You are organised, timely, capable of independently managing your workload and meeting project reporting requirements.
  • You are committed to renewable energy and supporting communities to benefit from the energy transition.

You will have:

  • Demonstrated experience and skills in building relationships and working in partnerships with communities and community group leaders, service providers, and other key stakeholders to deliver project outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) including the ability to adapt communications to the relevant audience and discuss complex concepts with community and industry in plain and relatable language.
  • Experience and ability in facilitating the participation of people and communities in broader decision-making processes in community events and face-to-face engagement.

Working at MEFL

You will work within an organisation of people who are driven by our vision of an equitable zero carbon society. In addition to contributing to making the world a better place, you will have access to:

  • Financial incentives for sustainable commuting to work practices
  • Friendly and flexible work environment, including working from home
  • Individual learning plans to assist in your career development
  • Additional annual leave options
  • A Health & Wellbeing Program
