The Role

We are looking for a passionate and energetic Registered Nurse to be a clinical lead and oversee the general health and wellbeing of the residents at Mirikai, our live-in drug and alcohol service for people aged 18 to 35. This is a full-time ongoing position working Monday to Friday, based at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Intake support and a lead role with the transition of clients from community to drug and alcohol residential care.
  • Conduct holistic health care assessments including mental health assessments, assist in the formulation of treatment plans and maintain appropriate client records.
  • Build and maintain a therapeutic relationship with residents of the program to identify and address areas of concern.
  • Take responsibility for all aspects of medication management for clients living within our residential facility including safe storage, administration, documentation, staff training, overarching governance and quality control.
  • Monitor the physical condition of residents as required including managing day to day presentations, triaging need in line with priority for care, managing referrals to GPs, coordinating acute care (hospital admissions) and liaising with frontline services where necessary.

About You

  • You possess a current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Demonstrated competence in providing client-centred nursing care, including experience working with individuals with problematic alcohol and substance use and/or mental health issues.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member and relate positively to a diverse range of people.
