This is an exciting opportunity for qualified and experienced Aftercare Worker to join our team at Dianella Cottage.

About the program

Dianella Cottage provides intensive non-residential treatment for women with co-occurring substance and mental health issues specialising in Post-Traumatic Stress Injury and Complex Trauma. Dianella Cottage also offers an aftercare program - Making Choices Program proving support to both men and women. Working under a harm minimisation framework, our team utilise a relational approach that encompasses trauma-informed group work and therapeutic practices.

About the role

We are looking for a passionate professional with experience and qualifications in the alcohol and other drug sector to join our team at Dianella Cottage. As an Aftercare Worker, you will be working in our new Aftercare Program which provides services to both men and women who have completed treatment, have a sustained period of self-management or have self-identified that they are at risk of relapsing. The focus of the program is to provide both individual and group support to enable the development of sustainable recovery skills and to strengthen their connections and relationships in the community.

The position will be part-time (three days per week) and you may be required to work in Lithgow and Katoomba as needed.

What you will bring to the role

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related area health services discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Alcohol and Other Drugs, Mental Health, trauma and/or related fields
  • Demonstrated understanding of inclusive approaches to recovery within a harm minimisation framework.
  • Case management experience, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple clients with a variety of needs and at different stages of treatment.
  • Demonstrated experience in group facilitation and presentation
  • Understanding of harm minimisation drug and alcohol treatment, including pharmacotherapy programs.
  • Training and/or experience or willingness to undertake training in the application of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Smart Recovery Group Facilitation
  • highly developed communication and engagement skills
