About the Role 

Life Without Barriers is looking for experienced and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our team across the Adelaide Metropolitan area. LWB staff provide support to adults with Intellectual Disabilities/Physical Disabilities/Psycho-Social Disabilities and or a Dual Diagnosis across a variety of settings.

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking Disability Support Workers who are experienced in providing in-home support, as well as support to access the wider community. You will assist with skill development and provide assistance to ensure each client meets his/her goals. Your working day, may include (but not limited to), assistance and/or support with daily life, including, domestic activities, social and community participation and varying skill development activities.

To be successful, you will need well developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a Team as well as family members, you will need good communication (both written and verbal) skills and the ability to follow the routines and protocols in the setting in which you work.

These roles will require successful applicants to be available and willing to work within a 24/7 roster that includes regular shift work, including night shifts, weekends and public holidays, on a permanent part time basis.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum Cert III in Mental Health, Disability, Individual Support or other related fields;
  • Current Provide First Aid Certificate;
  • Current Driver Licence;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from Diverse Cultural Backgrounds with specific reference to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people;
  • Demonstrated ability to positively engage, interact and work with people who have complex needs;
  • Experience with positive behaviour support. 

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check.
