About the Role

The Clinician/Allied Health Professional is responsible for providing direct therapy, developing and monitoring intervention plans and strategies to support people with a disability, people with a mental health issue and children and young people with high and complex needs. The Clinician will also provide training and support for carers and staff regarding therapeutic support including behaviour support plans and incident prevention and response plans for clients. 

Applicants must hold tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy or Social Work and current registration or eligibility for registration with the professional body or Psychology board of Australia to practice as a psychologist. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a range of evidence-based psychological interventions to individuals/groups presenting with multiple and complex.
  • Implement the care plan and interventions through the use of key current research, professional development, policy, and practice frameworks, documentation, outcome measurement and reporting tools. 
  • Monitor and review clients ’ progress through the service, and against the care plan and outcome measures, and provide up to date progress reports to the partner organisations and care team demonstrating client outcomes.
  • Ensure that client management systems are up to date with all relevant client and service information through the maintenance of accurate case notes, up to date care plans, reports and file information.
  • Through intervention and clinical case management, and through linkage to support services, support clients to maintain or re-engage in education and/or employment, social, and recreational networks, self-management, independent living, and increase individual and community based relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with the client and the care team to plan for, and develop the skills to exit or transition from the service, including referral to other services where appropriate.

Skills & Experience

  • A tertiary degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or other relevant qualification
  • Current full registration or eligibility for registration, with the relevant professional organisation/s 
  • Demonstrated experience operating within both internal and external Clinical Governance frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience working in a range of settings as determined by client need and location, including outreach and off site hub locations that may be in rural and remote areas and/or via e-health platforms such as video conferencing and online
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to engage and work with clients 1:1 with multiple and complex needs in an engaging, flexible, creative and client focused recovery approach
  • Demonstrated capacity to work both as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and autonomously with multiple clients to provide wrap around clinical intervention and case management

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and hold Tasmanian Working With Vulnerable People Registration.
