About the Role

We are currently looking for 2 x Community Support Worker (Mental Health) on a 12 Month Maximum Term Basis to join the community managed mental health service based in Ipswich.

The successful candidate will be part of a team who provide community support to people with a severe and persistent mental illness and their carers to assist them in experiencing improved social and emotional wellbeing and quality of life.

You will work with participants to offer services which focus on participant-determination, empowerment, hope and belief that recovery from a mental illness is possible.

To be successful in this role, you will need:


  • Minimum Cert IV in Community Services (Mental Health, Non Clinical).
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from Diverse Cultural Backgrounds with specific reference to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Demonstrated ability to positively engage, interact and work with people who have complex needs including a Psychiatric disability.
  • Have a clear understanding of the issues involved in working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Current Driver Licence.
  • Ability to travel across the region.


  • Have a comprehensive understanding of the Recovery Framework and the underlying principles.
  • Previous experience in working with people who have a mental health issue and who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain in first three (3) months of employment
  • Experience facilitating group work activities.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
