Who are we looking for?

You are a self-motivated individual who has a passion to work on local development projects to support positive change. The position requires you to be results-focused with an ability to plan and deliver towards objectives. You need to be passionate about developing projects and taking them through the project cycle. You will need to be comfortable with experimentation and in taking calculated risks in order to innovate.

You have the ability to cultivate and maintain effective teamwork and collaborative relationships. It is crucial that you have a highly ethical and respectful attitude towards the organisation’s values and culture, its staff and volunteers and all stakeholders.

The role may require you work with flexibility, including willingness to work outside office hours as the role requires and to travel domestically as required.

What will you be doing?

Coordinate, support and manage IRAUS local humanitarian and development projects in Victoria to achieve significant growth and quality impacts in line with the intended outcomes of the 2018-2022 IRAUS Strategic Plan. The project implementation modalities require efficient and effective project development skills, project cycle management and grant management expertise, the ability to apply quality and accountability frameworks, and the ability to effectively engage members of the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) community in Australia.

The Local Projects Lead (Vic) is a hands-on role within the IRAUS Programs Department, working in close collaboration with IRAUS finance, information communications technology, human resource management, community engagement / fundraising, and marketing and communications functions.

You will need to be self-motivated and demonstrate the ability to work independently and autonomously.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant community development field
  • Project cycle management skills including financial management
  • Knowledge of humanitarian and development management approaches, tools,
  • policies and accountability frameworks
  • Strong facilitation and networking skills to build and manage diverse internal and external relationships
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with time pressures and managing multiple tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Additional relevant language skills will be highly regarded
  • Cross cultural communication skills and knowledge of Islamic faith values
  • Engaging interpersonal skills and an ability to provide technical assistance and coaching support to a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences
  • Excellent analysis and reporting abilities; ability to independently assess needs and develop creative solutions
  • Competent planning and organisational skills with demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement and initiative where procedures are not clearly defined
  • Knowledge of WH&S guidelines.
