After Hours Support Worker

HomeGround is seeking an After Hours Support Worker to join our Elizabeth Street Common Ground Supportive Housing program. Supportive Housing is an innovative approach to housing people who have experienced long term homelessness and who are highly vulnerable with a range of support needs. The Elizabeth St development is the first of its kind in Australia and is based on five key elements:

• Permanent – offering self contained, high quality housing
• Safe – controlled access keeps unwelcome people out
• Affordable – with rents set at a maximum of 30% of income
• Supportive – with on site supports to help stabilise and sustain housing
• Diverse - a social mix of tenants ensuring a thriving community

The position of After Hours Support Worker is part of a team of nine workers rostered in pairs to cover a range of shifts seven days a week. After Hours Support Workers are primarily responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the tenants of Elizabeth Street, and responding appropriately to incidents and emergencies as they arise.   The After Hours Support Worker also plays an important role in client engagement, working with clients in an informal capacity after hours and are also required to undertake some light cleaning duties.
