Food Connect’s aim is to supply local, sustainably produced food to the community in South East Queensland. We are creating a new, more equitable way of distributing local produce in a socially responsible way.
Role Description
It is the role of Extras Packers to be responsible for the packing of Food Connect produce and groceries. Extras Packers also give feedback and advice to their supervisor to enable effective decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Extras Packers are accountable to the Extras Packing Team Leader and are responsible for the following areas:
- Packing the Extras orders accurately and with diligence and care for the products.
- Packing the items in a timely manner, using excellent time management skills
- Regularly ensuring consistent maintenance and quality of stock.
- Upholding Food Connect’s quality assurance standards.
- Keeping the Extras Packing area clean, organised and maintained.
- Post-pack cleanup in warehouse
- Actively participating in meetings and training as required.
Summary of results to be achieved
Extras Packers are to:
- Receive, pre pack and pack produce and groceries
- Conduct cold stock pre pack
- Pack only produce and groceries that meet Food Connect standards
- Conduct daily quality control and problem solving
- Carry out daily communication with sales team, drivers and subscribers
- Conduct weekly stock take and daily reporting
- Adhere to various procedures to improve Extras/warehouse - efficiency/operations
- Clean up, recycling and organisation of work area
- Actively engage in weekly packers meeting
Standards
Extras Packers are to be evaluated against the following standards:
- Accurate packing and reporting is essential.
- Advising the supervisor on produce that does not meet Food Connect standards.
- Meeting or exceeding productivity targets.
- Meeting or exceeding expectations of this role by staff, especially the packing team.
- Minimizing food and packaging waste in warehouse.
- A suggestion for improvement is provided to each of the other teams at least once per year
- Participation in team meetings to enhance overall operation of the organisation

Hours and Remuneration
This is a permanent part time position.
Hours of work are a minimum of 20 per week. Extra hours are dependant on the needs of the Extras department. Work is spread from Monday to Thursdays. Work starts at 10.30am on Mondays, and 6am on the other days, with the finish time fluctuating throughout the week.
Remuneration is according the the Storage Services and Wholesale Award Level 2 at $17.14 per hour.

Work place and location
The warehouse and office is located at Unit 1 / 8 Textile Crescent, Salisbury. It is expected that staff will work from this location during regular office hours. Arrangements can be made to work off-site on non-delivery days. Particular positions may require earlier or later hours of work.
