Established in 1972 the Fitzroy Legal Service is the longest standing Community Legal Centre in Victoria, providing legal advice, advocacy and education services to the community.

We seek an experienced paralegal to support the delivery of high quality family law services. The position is a part-time ongoing position of five days per month (one day per week with a fifth day to be worked as negotiated).   

Key duties and responsibilities include providing assistance to Family Lawyer with a range of legal practice activities:

  • Typing documents including: letters, emails, court documents, billing
  • Photocopying
  • Preparation of court documents/Applications and Briefs to Counsel, including:
    • Typing documents
    • Filing Applications and documents by mail and online Court Portal
    • Organizing, indexing and photocopying client documents for inclusion in Briefs
  • Liaising (by phone and/or email) with clients, barristers and other professionals as necessary, including scheduling appointments, requesting/providing information
  • Contact / respond to new client enquiries to provide information about our service
  • Assist with file management and data entry when required.

This role will suit someone with a genuine interest in social justice, highly developed written and oral communication skills, strong computer literacy, and an ability to work in a small team environment.
