The role

  • Full time, based in Frenchs Forest, Northern Sydney
  • A competitive package based on relevant qualifications/experience + super +  salary packaging options available

  • Work with entrepreneurial leadership to reinvent our approach to fundraising partnerships

Are you an experienced business developer in the not for profit sector with a track record in partnerships and fundraising? If you have a passion for developing strong and lasting relationships for mutual benefit, this role - vital in ensuring the future sustainability of Fighting Chance - is for you.

This role begins with a focus (from August 2017 to March 2018) on elevating the 5th and final Tour de Chance to a $1M fundraising target, through existing and new sponsorships. Your experience managing projects, campaigns, or major events will come to the fore as you mobilise the Fighting Chance community and a varied range of stakeholders to reach this ambitious fundraising and engagement goal.

Beyond the Tour, the Partnerships Executive will work with Fighting Chance leadership to re-architect our approach to fundraising and partnerships, shifting from a community fundraising base to a high impact social investment model over the coming years. You will need an open and entrepreneurial mindset, ready to bring ideas and question the status quo.

Your mandate is to broaden and strengthen our funding base through genuine partnerships aligned with our brand and values. We need you to hit the ground running with proven success in a wide range of fundraising fundamentals including grant writing, relationship management, prospecting, solicitation and stewardship, and engagement events.

But most importantly, we are looking for someone who can see a different future for the not-for-profit sector. Someone who wants to re-think, with us, what charity and philanthropy looks like, and is ready to test out new ways of working in partnerships and fundraising as we go on that journey.

The candidate

You are the right person for this role if you have:

  • A relevant qualification and 3+ years experience in a partnerships or business development role, preferably in the N4P sector
  • Demonstrated excellence in building and maintaining stakeholder relationships, and the ability to influence and work collaboratively with peers, employees, external organisations, funding bodies and government agencies.
  • A proven track record in making the ask and driving income growth
  • Exceptional public speaking skills with the ability to strategically promote Fighting Chance, and deliver compelling presentations and pitches
  • Previous success in managing and writing grants
  • Expertise in managing events and campaigns that engage a wide range of stakeholders
  • Outstanding organisational skills and ability to work in a highly dynamic environment with competing priorities
  • A passion for (and/or experience with) working with people with disability
  • A proactive work ethic and willingness to jump in, collaborate, and get any job done
  • Ability to work autonomously and self-motivate

It is also important that candidates:

  • Possess or be willing to obtain a current satisfactory National Police Clearance Certificate and working with children check
  • Possess a current unrestricted NSW driver's license;
  • Possess a working knowledge of occupational health and safety practices
  • Be available and willing to work at events on weekends and evenings
