Avenue is a Co-Working Space which enables people of all abilities to work, socialise and learn.

Each Co-Working Space offers people disability the opportunity to:

  • Work: Avenue harnesses micro-business and the Gig Economy to enable participants to utilise their skills and contribute to the economy.
  • Develop Skills: Avenue Co-Working Spaces offer participants a range of learning and skill development opportunities, across a range of content areas including work skills, social skills and personal development.
  • Social Engagement: Avenue Co-Working Spaces offer participants the opportunity not just to work and learn, but to engage more broadly in social aspects of community life and develop friendships.

Our ambition is to open a total of 12 Avenue Co-Working spaces around Australia by 2022.

The Avenue Learning Manager works as part of the National Avenue team, and is responsible for developing the Avenue learning system and program, which will be rolled out to across all Avenue sites in the future.

Core accountabilities:

  • Systems & Content Development:
    • Develop the Avenue Learning system, as a template for roll out to all Avenue hubs in the future.
    • Ensure the system is developed in a way which is impactful for participants, easy to access and use for Avenue staff, and can be rolled out across sites.
    • Ensure the Avenue Learning system includes a model for tracking participant’s progress and builds in feedback mechanisms.
    • Content including Templates and documents for use in the learning system.
    • An Avenue “curriculum”, to give structure to the most common areas of skill development in Avenue. This curriculum would cover key areas of personal development covered by the Avenue model – key work skills, computer skills, numeracy, literacy etc. – inc. tiers of difficulty to take into account different participant's capacity and ability to learn and progress over time.
    • A library of content around common Avenue skill building areas, to ensure there are tasks, briefs, training activities and materials on-hand for Team Leaders to use in the day-to-day management of their teams.
    • Content for workshops and group training.
  • Engaging with external professionals in the development of Avenue content:
    • Engage with external professionals (teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, ASD specialists etc.) 
  • Training hub-based Skills Coordinators:
    • Work with Skills Coordinators in each Avenue hub to ensure they understand and are trained to implement the Learning system.
    • Provide support to Learning Coordinators, where required, to ensure interns in all hubs are getting the most from the Learning system.

A current Working with Children Check, National Police Check and current Provide First Aid certification and NSW Drivers licence is also required for this position.
