Major Activities

  1. Planning, organising and implementing (remotely and in-country) the Courts’ international development assistance programs, particularly the PJSI;
  2. Project administration, including coordinating, tracking, and organising all aspects of international logistics, drafting and compiling project materials, and reviewing and contributing to activity and Initiative reporting;
  3. Budget management and activity cost tracking, including financial administration and timely acquittal of all activity expenditure;
  4. Effective communication working cross-culturally;
  5. Working collaboratively with other team members across the International Programs Unit to support the Unit’s administration, including management of volunteers; and
  6.  Any other tasks required to support the activities and projects of the International Programs Unit.

Key Relationships

Judicial and court officers within the Federal Court, other Australian courts, and partner courts in other countries, and the International Programs team.

Formal Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in international development, project management or a related field; and at least 2 years’ experience working within the international development sector in a similar project support role.

Special Requirements

Potential travel in the Asia-Pacific region, including remote locations; and flexibility to work irregular hours if required, particularly during travel.

Selection Criteria

  1. At least 1-2 years’ experience implementing development assistance activities, preferably in the law and justice sector;
  2. Demonstrated experience in:
    1. effectively planning, organising and implementing development assistance activities, including international logistics and administration;
    2. administering projects to a high standard, on time and within budget;
    3. drafting resources, reports and other project-related documents;
    4. budget management, including administration, monitoring and acquittals;
  3. Effective interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills with stakeholders of various seniority, across cultures;
  4. Working collaboratively, and with minimal supervision;
  5. Ability to be flexible and deliver high quality and timely outputs in a dynamic environment of changing and competing priorities;
  6. Attention to detail and pro-active approach to solving problems; and
  7. Proficient in using technology to perform functions and maximise reach/efficiency of activities, including Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
