Seeking EAL Teachers for relief teaching!

Fitzroy Learning Network Inc (FLN) is a not for profit organisation, affiliated Community Neighbourhood House Learning Centre and Registered Training Organisation. FLN has been providing a range of highly regarded and valued programs and services to newly arrived migrants, refugees and other disadvantaged community members since 1986. These programs and services range from English language programs to teaching sewing skills, arts programs and computer skills and business leadership.

FLN English as a second language teachers provide quality teaching, training and assessment services to Fitzroy Learning Network culturally and linguistically diverse learners. FLN uses the Certificates in Spoken and Written English (CSWE) curriculum framework for teaching English to Preliminary, Beginner, Post Beginner and Intermediate learners.

We are seeking Expressions of Interest from qualified and experienced EAL/ESL teachers who would like to register for relief teaching with our organisation.

Expressions of interest tor egister for emergency relief teaching, to back-fill teaching sessions at short notice. Teachers wishing to apply are required to demonstrate willingness and experience in planning EAL lessons, develop appropriate teaching materials, student activities and worksheets, and complete teacher administration at the completion of the session.

Relief teachers are employed on a casual, session by session basis according to Educational Services (Post-Secondary Education) Award 2010 based on agreed Qualifications and teaching experience.

Casual pay rates range from $47.05 up to $61.58 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.

 Essential qualifications

  • A recognised 3year Bachelor Degree and a recognised post graduate TESOL qualification in adult education which includes a practicum*; or
  • A Bachelor of Education with a TESOL major or equivalent which includes a practicum*

 (*practicum’s must be at least 60 hours long)

Plus

  • A current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110 with LLN upgrade or TAE40116)

Desirable but not mandatory

Knowledge and experience working with:

  • ACSF (Australian Core Skills Framework)
  • ISLPR (International Second Language Proficiency Ratings)
