About the Organisation
The Centre for Culture, Ethnicity & Health (CEH) assists health, government and community organisations to offer a high quality service to clients from migrant and refugee backgrounds by building the capacity of the organisation through training, innovation and working directly with communities in education and advocacy. CEH’s work is informed by research, evidence and its experience working with migrant and refugee communities. CEH includes a fee-for-service arm as well as discrete programs that focus on health service delivery and sexual health and viral hepatitis.
About the Opportunity
CEH now has an opportunity for a Community Engagement Officer to work within their community engagement team in Richmond, VIC on a full-time or part-time basis.
Reporting to the Stream Leader, your primary responsibility will be to lead CEH work with specific communities and facilitate initiatives that demonstrate cultural competence, health literate practice and community participation.
To be successful in this position you will have relevant qualifications in diversity and health promotion, youth work, community development, or relevant field and a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
CEH is welcoming applications from candidates with strong project management skills and knowledge and demonstrated cultural competence in working with diverse ethnicities, religions, ages, genders and sexualities. Ideally, you will have proficiency in at least one community language and have previous experience or skills in delivering community education sessions on sensitive topics such as sexual health and BBV/STI prevention; behavioural change; and healthy relationships.
